My First Farmers Market: Nerves, Support & Surprises

My First Farmers Market: Nerves, Support & Surprises

On September 13th, I stepped into something I never imagined for myself — becoming a vendor at a farmers market. Honestly, never in a million years did I think I’d be here. Soapmaking started as a personal journey for me, tied to my own health and a desire for more natural options. I just wanted something better for my skin and my body. What I didn’t know then was how much joy I would find in creating, and how that joy would grow into a business.

I was overwhelmed — in the best way — by the love and support I received. Friends, family pushed me to go for it (thank you, girl, you know who you are 💜). Putting yourself out there is nerve-wracking, especially when what you’re offering feels so personal. But I prayed, I trusted God, and I moved forward. The response was humbling. People not only bought my soaps, but came back to tell me how much they loved how it made them feel — clean, refreshed, and comforted by the scents and the natural ingredients they could actually recognize on the label. That’s exactly what I had hoped for.

The market was also a beautiful chance to connect with other vendors. I felt a sense of community — people encouraging me, sharing tips, and pointing me toward more opportunities. It reminded me that growth isn’t just about sales; it’s about the people you meet along the way.

Of course, I had my learning moments too. Let’s just say I need to invest in sandbags, because my tent nearly flew away! The wind gave me a run for my money, and my signage definitely needs to be better secured. But even with those hiccups, everything came together.

One of the biggest highlights? My Black Rose Noir tea-infused soap was the first to sell out. That moment made me so proud — something I created from scratch was in someone else’s hands, being enjoyed, cherished, and used.

I couldn’t have done it without the steady encouragement of my husband, who was right there with me, reminding me that I had no reason to be nervous. With his support, and with the outpouring from my community, my first market turned into more than I ever hoped for.

This experience has only made me more excited for what’s next — more markets, more community, more growth, and more opportunities to share healthier, natural alternatives with people who care about what goes on their skin. This is only the beginning, and the sky is the limit.
